HA, probably the best known author in the entire fandom and yet he remains extremely modest under all the attention and praise. I decided to give him the honor he deserves and interviewed him in a desolated place somewhere the Redington Warehouse District.

INTERVIEW WITH HA

It was already cold and wet and I waded through pools of water to the Redington Warehouse District. Lots of things happened here. Arsons, kidnappings, but now it seemed all very quiet, too quiet. I walked into a relatively small building which looked much like the one I used in one of my stories. It was dark inside. The only thing I could see was the table that was in the room. When finally reached it and sat down a voice startled me. I looked up and saw a masked figure approach me and sit down on the other end of the table. "Fire away..."

First the question you probably like the least, just to get it over with, can you tell us a bit about yourself?

*Points the Fishgun at MGM*  Next question ;oP

Oh... er...W-wwhat was it in the Shirley Holmes TV show that attracted you to it?

Hmmmmmmm...I guess it was the Sherlock Holmes connection.  Also, the fact the protagonist was a girl, and after watching the first episode aired here in the States ("The Case of the Ruby Ring"), I immediately realized she was no ordinary girl.  It's rare to find a female character on TV who isn't concerned with being one of the crowd.  Meredith Henderson did a good job portraying a scaled down female version of Sherlock.  It also didn't hurt she was a cutie-patootie :o)

What is your favorite character in the show?

Shirley, of course.  I also like Bart because he's interested in the extremely unusual like ghosts and aliens.  Hence, he gets new friends, some weapons, and a psychotic boy bent on killing him.  A pity the cast moved on; I'm still curious on how Blair Slater would react, and I still have the nagging feeling Sarah Ezer bears me a grudge.  But then, I do have an overactive imagination plus some paranoia :o)  *Singing*  La la la la life goes on...

Why would Sarah Ezer have a grudge against you? Is it for torturing her character or did you say something to her in a chat you shouldn't have?

It's the torture thing.  After I wrote that, I had the nagging feeling Sarah was gunning for me.  Gradually my reason returned to me.  Why would someone from a TV show want to hunt down a fanfic writer who loves to wear masks in cyberspace?  I guess a part of me wants to know what the cast thinks of what I've done to them in my stories, but they do have lives as well and reading fanfics isn't exactly on top of their "to do" list.  Ah, even we paranoid Pikachu suit wearing weirdos have inflatable egos :o)  Me, I beat mine down with a tuna.  Gets very smelly, though ;oP

I guess we won't really know until there is a new celeb chat...* gives Damon a shifty look*. Anyway, What was it that made you start writing SH fanfiction?

After watching a few episodes, I pondered writing fanfiction because as I found web sites on the show, I found only one story (to this day, I have no idea where it went).  Not wanting to mess with the characters, I created my own, stirred in my own influences like anime, and my SH world was born.

What is your favorite genre to write?

Action-adventure.  I blame all the action-oriented programming I've watched ever since I was little.  I can do mystery, but that really takes research. If I wish, I can do a little romance, and I do stress the word "little" :o)

How far do you go in researching your story?

Research?  We don't need no stinking research ;oP  *LOL*  Seriously, I try to confirm certain facts about subjects I'm unfamiliar with.  I really need to research on the second half of the series (S3-S4) since I have a habit of placing allusions from the show in my stories.

How did Mr. E & the Hewitts come into the world?

Mr. E is the result of me thinking "Can there be a worse villain than Molly?"  Originally going to be a crime boss with a small gang, he evolved into the supreme leader of a worldwide criminal organization.  Blake came in because I wanted Shirley to have a possible love interest, and this was before I got more information about Matt.  Of course, his parents followed.  Quite frankly, everything just popped out of my head.  It happened so fast. I'm still organizing background information on them and my other characters.

Was the fact Blake's name came from the WWF the inspiration for "The Problem Prone Bodyslammer"?

Not really.  I was just in the mood to write a wrestling story at the time. Of course, you can blame my subconscious for that one.

Do you feel there is a recurring theme or a deeper meaning to your work?

Um, beware of exploding dummies? :o)  Seriously, my work has a bit of X-Files flavoring in that there is something big going on and only certain people have a clue on what it is.  Another theme is change; that will become more evident as more stories come out.

What do you prefer? Plan out a story in advance or just go where the story takes you?

Actually, I use a combination of the two most of the time. I usually have a plan for the story on paper or in my head, but when I need to connect the important events, I just write down what I think works.

What is your favorite SH author?

You mean besides me? :o)  *LOL*  Actually, my favorite is Rogue Amazon Boo. Her writing really gets you into her story despite her tendency to write in very long paragraphs.  Also, she likes Buffy :o)  If someone knows where she is, tell her the Machina Trilogy still needs to be finished and I promise not to overload her with more robots.

How do you feel about all the praise you get on your series?

Very, very, very surprised.  I'm still baffled why people (when they actually offer feedback and reactions) like my stories.  I feel I'm taking the show into a direction it was never intended to head into.  When was the last time Shirley and company had to take on killer robots? :o)  Heck, believe me.  Everything gets weirder from here.

What are your thoughts on the SH fanfiction awards?

If more people don't vote, I swear by the sacred names of Almighty Pikachu and Joss I'll activate my Cow Launching Satellite and bring down flaming bovine fury on the world ;o)  Seriously, it's about time someone came up with the idea to reward us fanfic writers.  After all, I feel it's difficult to write for a show that has run its course.

What are your plans for writing in the future?

As of now, my mind keeps coming with ideas that are non-SH.  In addition to pondering my next SH story, I'm trying to finish a fanfic for the anime Cardcaptor Sakura (NOT CARDCAPTORS!), occasionally pondering returning to what I was working on before SH, thinking of trying fanfiction for Narnia, 7th Heaven, and Buffy/Angel, and developing a Pokemonesque world involving computerized fighting robots and time-travelling wormholes.  What can I saw? I have way too much free time after I get my schoolwork done :o)

Any tips for your fellow authors?

Keep writing and always check your work carefully. Get a beta-reader if you have to. Oh, and never abuse your Pikachu or I'll send you a cow projectile ;oP Hope that helps.

Thanks for the interview. See you around!
