STORY STARTER CHALLENGE

The first challenge is underway! Read the start of "The Case of the Smothering Smoke" here!
Send in your writing to the following address: submissions@shirleyholmes.5u.com
Deadline for new submissions is November 1st, 2002. Please read the rules & regulations below.

There are far too little finished works of fanfiction! Well at least at the moment of this writing. It doesn't matter how much I try to encourage people to write, it is HARD to finish a fic. I have the experience myself.

This challenge was developed to make it easier for people to try their hand at writing fanfiction without having to commit themselves to works of 40000+ words. It is also for experienced authors who want to publish more of their writing, but don't have the time to finish a fic on their own.

Now I'll just hope it does the job.

Here's how it works
I give the summary of a story, with the starting paragraph or chapter.
I need you - Yes, you! - to continue the story.

Rules & Regulations

- The challenge is open to everyone who wants to write a part of the story. However, parts of previously published stories can NOT be accepted.

- Previously written chapters should be taken into account when writing new material.

- Check your spelling and grammer and/or use a betareader before submitting your work.

- The highest possible rating for material submitted is PG-13.

- You can make as much submissions as you like, but try to stay under 2000 words for each one.

- Don't end the story unless I specifically ask for it.

- The submission that gets added to the story will be chosen through a reader's vote. During this vote, the author of the submission will be anonymous to make sure that newbies get a fair chance.

- The story can only be posted in archives by the person who started the story. Authors whose work gets included in the story will be credited for their work. (What about a seperate account on ff.net for this kind of stories?)

- Submissions that do not obey these rules can be excluded at the webmaster's discretion.
